Who Are Pastdue Credit Solutions (PDCS)?

Pastdue Credit Solutions is a UK-based debt collection agency that works with lenders and service providers to recover unpaid debts. They may contact you after an account has fallen into arrears or been passed on by the original creditor.

In some cases, Pastdue Credit Solutions may be collecting a debt on behalf of another company. In others, they may have purchased the debt and now own the account themselves. This gives them the right to contact you and request payment, but it does not give them any extra legal powers beyond those of the original creditor.

Like all debt collection companies operating in the UK, Pastdue Credit Solutions is regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), which means there are rules about how they contact you and discuss repayment.

What Debts Can Pastdue Credit Solutions Collect?

Pastdue Credit Solutions usually deal with unsecured debts like credit cards, payday loans, catalogue accounts, and household bills. These debts are not tied to an asset like a home or vehicle and may have been passed to them for collection or sold on by the original lender.

They may act on behalf of, or purchase debts from:

  • Utility companies (water, gas, electricity providers)
  • Telecommunications companies
  • Government departments, including HMRC (His Majesty’s Revenue and Customs)
  • Banks and financial institutions
  • Other original creditors

Do HMRC use Pastdue Credit Solutions?

Pastdue Credit Solutions may contact you about debts owed to HMRC, like unpaid income tax, self-assessment, VAT, or National Insurance. HMRC sometimes uses external agencies to recover overdue balances, which is why you may hear from Pastdue Credit Solutions rather than HMRC directly.

Even though HMRC is a government department, debt collectors acting on their behalf still have to follow the same rules as any other agency. They cannot take money from your wages, enter your home, or seize belongings without proper legal action.

What Powers Do Pastdue Credit Solutions Limited Have?

Pastdue Credit Solutions are debt collectors, not bailiffs or enforcement agents. This means their powers are limited.

They are allowed to contact you by letter, phone, email, or text to ask for payment of a debt they are collecting or own. They can also discuss repayment options with you if you choose to engage with them.

They cannot:

  • Force entry into your home
  • Take your belongings
  • Visit your workplace
  • Speak to family members, neighbours, or colleagues about your debt
  • Pretend to be bailiffs or claim court action has already started if it hasn’t

What Happens If Pastdue Credit Solutions Comes to My House?

If Pastdue Credit Solutions visit your home, it can feel unsettling, but their powers are limited. They are not bailiffs and have no legal authority to enter your property.

You do not have to let them in, and you can speak to them through the door or ask them to leave. If you ask them to go, they must do so. They are not allowed to force entry, return repeatedly in a threatening way, or visit during unsociable hours (usually considered to be between 9.30pm and 6am).

Can Pastdue Credit Solutions Take My Belongings?

Pastdue Credit Solutions cannot take your belongings to recover a debt. They are a debt collection agency, not bailiffs or enforcement agents. This means they have no legal right to remove goods from your home or seize items as payment.

Only court-appointed enforcement agents can take belongings, and this can only happen after specific legal steps have been followed. Pastdue Credit Solutions don’t have these powers, even if the debt has been outstanding for some time.

If anyone acting for Pastdue Credit Solutions claims they can take your possessions, this would be improper and should be challenged. They also cannot take payment on the spot unless you choose to pay.

Can Pastdue Credit Solutions Take My Car?

In most cases, Pastdue Credit Solutions cannot take your car to recover a debt. They don’t have the authority to seize vehicles, unless there are very specific circumstances.

The only situations where a vehicle may be at risk are when the debt is directly linked to the car, such as hire purchase or logbook loan arrears, or where a court has issued a County Court Judgment and enforcement agents have been instructed. Pastdue Credit Solutions themselves cannot take these steps.

What Happens If You Ignore Pastdue Credit Solutions?

Ignoring Pastdue Credit Solutions won’t make the debt go away. In most cases, contact will continue through letters, calls, or emails, and the situation can escalate over time. If the debt remains unpaid, the creditor may decide to take further steps.

Ignoring contact can also make it harder to challenge the debt, check the balance is correct, or agree a realistic way forward. It often limits your options later on.

Can Pastdue Credit Solutions Take Me to Court?

Pastdue Credit Solutions cannot take you to court automatically, and court action is not their first step.

If a debt remains unpaid, the creditor may decide to apply for a County Court Judgment (CCJ). Before this happens, you should receive formal notice giving you time to respond, dispute the debt, or make payment arrangements. Pastdue Credit Solutions must follow the correct legal process and cannot issue court action without warning.

Court action is usually a last resort and often only happens when no agreement is reached. Even then, you are given the opportunity to respond before any judgment is made.

Can You Write Off Your Debt With Pastdue Credit Solutions?

If Pastdue Credit Solutions have been in touch about money you owe, you do have options. You can repay the debt in full if you’re able to, or look at formal debt solutions like an IVA if the balance is no longer manageable.

What is an IVA?

An IVA is a formal, legally binding agreement between you and your creditors, arranged and supervised by a licensed Insolvency Practitioner. It allows you to repay what you can afford through one monthly payment, usually over five or six years.

Once an IVA is approved, Pastdue Credit Solutions must stop contacting you about any debts included in the arrangement. Interest and charges are frozen, and creditors cannot take legal action while the IVA is in place.

Many people repay only a portion of what they owe. A debt write-off of between 25% and 73% is realistic in many cases, though this depends on your income, outgoings, and overall debt level, and must be approved by your creditors*.

At the end of the IVA, any remaining qualifying unsecured debt included in the arrangement is written off**, giving you a clear and structured way to deal with Pastdue Credit Solutions and bring the debt to an end.

IVAs are usually more suitable for people with more than one unsecured debt and ongoing repayment problems. If you’re unsure whether an IVA is right for you, our IVA Learning Hub explains how they work and who they’re designed for.

If you’d like to talk things through, our advisors can offer a no-obligation 30-minute consultation to go over your situation and explain the next steps.
